The Tamarac North Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce Foundation, together with Heart Sistas and the members of Tamarac Moose Lodge, have announced the launch of the new Student Community Garden located at the Tamarac Moose Lodge, 6191 Rock Island Road.
The public is invited to celebrate this community initiative on Saturday, October 25, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Guests will enjoy coffee, snacks, and a guided tour while meeting the students who have been nurturing the garden. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 9:30 a.m. In attendance will be Mayor Michelle J. Gomez, Commissioner Morey Wright, and other elected officials and community leaders to be confirmed.
The event will feature a presentation by Master Gardener Hyvelle Ferguson-Davis, who has been mentoring participating students in sustainable gardening, water conservation, and butterfly habitat creation. Students participating in the program will also receive community service hours for their involvement.
Peter Mason, Executive Director of the Chamber, was proud of the students and everyone connected with the Community Garden.
“I would like to thank the Moose Lodge for allowing us to do this, Heart Sistas, and especially Master Gardener Hyvelle Ferguson-Davis. Everyone can be part of this project. We can’t wait to see the fruits, vegetables, butterfly garden, water collection stations, and artwork—it’s going to be a wonderful addition to the Moose Lodge.”
The Community Garden is designed to bring together students, residents, and volunteers to grow fresh produce, learn sustainable practices, and build stronger community connections.
