In a move to support its residents grappling with financial difficulties, the City of Tamarac has announced a comprehensive Residential Assistance Program aimed at offering much-needed relief to those struggling to keep up with housing costs.
The initiative extends a lifeline to residents facing difficulties with mortgage payments, rent, rent hikes, and overdue homeowner association (HOA) or condominium fees.
Under the umbrella of this initiative, the City has rolled out several targeted programs:
- The Rental Assistance Program provides crucial support for residents who are behind on rent, helping to prevent potential evictions.
- The GAP Rental Assistance Program is tailored to assist residents contending with rent increases. This program seeks to bridge the gap between an applicant’s income and the rising cost of rent, ensuring housing stability.
- The Mortgage Assistance Program offers a beacon of hope for homeowners behind on mortgage payments, aiming to curb the risk of foreclosure.
Applications for these programs will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis, a system put in place to ensure fairness and efficiency, and applications will remain active until the allocated funds are completely utilized.
In a step to streamline the process, payments will be issued directly to landlords or mortgage companies on behalf of the approved applicants. To facilitate this, applicantsmusto obtain a W-9 form from their landlord or mortgage company for the City to process the payment.
Prospective applicants are urged to meticulously read and follow the instructions provided on Neighborly, which requires users to register or sign in to start their application process.
