Developers for a proposed warehouse will appear at the next planning and zoning board meeting in Tamarac in their first step in getting approval for the project.
The warehouse, Tamarac Exchange Center, located at 6899 N. Hiatus Road, is proposed by a private developer, Advance Business Associations, LLP.
First introduced in February of 2019, it was proposed as two industrial shell warehouse buildings, containing a total building area of 358,652 square feet. According to a construction website, the project is estimated to cost $30 million.
In various Facebook groups, residents have speculated that the warehouse could be used by Amazon and similar companies and operate 24/7, which they feared would bring additional traffic into the area; however, this has not been confirmed by the city.
The planning and zoning board will answer many questions during the presentation on Wednesday, December 2, at 9:00 a.m. The board can only make a recommendation for or against a project to the city commission — who will eventually vote on it.
