Tamarac Weekly Crime Update March 18

Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates to residents, this is a summary of crimes that occurred in Tamarac from March 12 through March 18.

Theft

2900 block of West Commercial Blvd

On March 12 at 6:28 p.m., police observed a man operating a vehicle with an unassigned temporary tag and dark tint. A traffic stop was conducted and the man was found to be in possession of MDMA and marijuana. He is currently on probation for possession of cocaine, and was charged accordingly and transported to jail.

4017 West Commercial Blvd – 24 Hour Fitness

On March 13 between 9:26 p.m. and 11:06 p.m., the victim’s bike that was chained to a sign in front of the business, was removed by an unknown subject. Total loss was $99.

5900 block of Riverside Ave

On March 14 between 2:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m., an unknown suspect took all four tires and rims from a vehicle, leaving the vehicle on four cement blocks overnight. No witnesses could be located and no outside video cameras were located in the condo complex.

8300 block of Sands Point Blvd

On March 14 at 7:21 a.m., an unknown suspect stole the tires and rims from the victim’s vehicle overnight.

8700 block of Azalea Court

Between March 13 at 10:00 p.m. and March 14 at 8:00 a.m., the reporting person was notified by his neighbors that his parents’ vehicle was sitting on blocks and all four tires were missing. There were no witnesses. No outside video cameras were seen in the complex.

Battery

5200 block of North State Road 7

On March 12 at 8:40 p.m., police responded to the location and met with the victim who advised her boyfriend battered her.

Theft Retail Shopping

6401 West Commercial Blvd – Walgreens

On March 12 at 10:34 p.m., a female selected items (plush toys, wine, and electric razors), placed them into a laundry bag, and exited the store, failing to pay for the merchandise.

3914 West Commercial Blvd – Walgreens

On March 16 between 5:35 p.m. and 16:27 p.m., two unknown males entered the Walgreens and stole $256 worth of miscellaneous hygiene items.

7000 block of Golf Pointe Circle – Invitation Homes

Between February 28 and March 13 at 8:30 a.m., the management company that owns this property was going to show the residence to a renter. They found the combination to the deadbolt had been changed and a dog and items could be seen inside. A neighbor stated they saw two vehicles at the residence, but did not see anyone coming or going. The management company planned to stand by until someone showed up.

9200 block of Southgate Blvd

On March 13 at 5:06 p.m., a crash occurred between two vehicles. After the crash, an argument ensued between the two drivers and a passenger involving weapons.

7800 block of Dixie Beach Circle

On March 13 between 4:11 p.m. and 6:38 p.m., the reporting person called a number on Google that she thought was Ticketmaster and was scammed out of $450.

Burglary Conveyance

7500 block of NW 64th Street

On March 13 at 1:24 p.m., an unknown suspect smashed the victim’s vehicle window and stole a blood pressure cuff.

Burglary Residence

9500 block of North Belfort Circle – Belfort Community

On March 15 between 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., the complainant advised that an unknown suspect forced entry through the front door. Jewelry and a key fob were stolen. Latent prints were collected.

Millennium Middle School

On March 12 between 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., an unknown suspect(s) stole the victim’s 13-year-old daughter’s iPhone from her backpack at school.

Arrests

On March 12, James Lamar Render, 24, on charges of larceny-petit theft over $100 but less that $300 at Walgreens at 6401 West Commercial Blvd.

On March 12, Desean Basil Scudder, 35, on charges of battery-committing domestic battery by strangulation at the 5200 block of North State Road 7.

On March 14, Juan Edward Pierce, 61, on charges of delivery of cocaine at the 4900 block of North State Road 7.

On March 16, Alex Lee Woody, 35, on charges of battery-committing domestic battery by strangulation-dating relation at the 5700 block of NW 58th Ave.

On March 17, Jackson Exalus, 27, on charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon-domestic violence at the 6400 block of NW 57th Court.
