Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates to residents, this is a summary of crimes that occurred in Tamarac from February 26 through March 4.
Criminal mischief
7875 West McNab Road – All Saints Lutheran Church
Between March 1 at 6:00 p.m. and March 3 at 9:37 a.m., an unknown suspect(s) vandalized (graffiti) the church.
Burglary Conveyance
8100 block of North University Drive
Between February 22 at 6:00 p.m. and February 23 at 3:30 a.m., the victim reported a burglary to her vehicle in which a child’s book bag was stolen.
5200 block of West Prospect Road
On February 23 at 4:00 p.m., an unknown suspect(s) entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and stole her purse. The suspect(s) attempted to use the victim’s debit card at a Walgreens to purchase gift cards and the charges were denied.
8197 North University Drive – Excelsior Artz Preparatory School
On February 27 between 8:11 a.m. and 8:17 a.m., a man in a vehicle with tinted windows was observed on video pulling up next to the victim’s vehicle and taking her purse out of the passenger’s seat while she was dropping her grandchild off at school.
6300 block of NW 62nd Street – Bermuda Club
Between February 24 at 12:00 a.m. and February 27 at 10:05 a.m., a female reported a burglary to her storage unit.
5700 block of Madison Ave
Between February 26 at 8:00 a.m. and February 27 at 9:00 a.m., the victim stated someone entered his unlocked vehicle and removed a carry-on bag with two suits and a Dell laptop from the parking lot at either the Hampton Inn or City Furniture.
7100 block of Brookwood Blvd – Lake Colony
On March 1 at 8:53 a.m., someone removed a wallet with the victim’s credit cards, driver’s license and other items from her unlocked vehicle parked at the clubhouse. A resident later located the wallet and turned it in to the Tamarac Station. Her credit card was used at a Shell Gas station.
Auto Theft
7000 block of Woodmont Ave
On March 1 between 3:51 a.m. and 7:23 a.m., a subject wearing a hoodie stole the victim’s vehicle. Keys were with the vehicle.
8000 block of NW 96th Terrace
Between March 3 at 10:30 p.m. and March 4 at 7:30 a.m., an unknown person(s) stole the victim’s vehicle from the apartment parking lot.
Burglary residence
7900 block of NW 73rd Ave
On February 27 between 6:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., deputies responded in reference to a residential burglary. Various pieces of jewelry and an iPad were taken. There were no signs of forced entry. The scene was processed for latent prints.
Theft/Retail Shoplifting
4197 West Commercial Blvd – Marshalls
On February 27 at 1:17 p.m., the subject was seen selecting a pair of black sneakers and concealing them within the front waistband of his shorts. The subject dropped the shoes as he was confronted by the Marshall’s investigator. The shoes were recovered and the subject fled southbound.
Auto Theft – Motorcycle
8500 block of NW 61st Street
On February 28 at 2:08 a.m., the victim reported theft of his 2013 Yamaha motorcycle from in front of his apartment. The victim caught the two subjects in the act at which time they dropped the motorcycle and ran.
Theft – Motor Vehicle Parts
8300 block of Sands Point Blvd
On February 27 at 9:47 a.m., an unknown suspect stole the victim’s rims and tires off of her vehicle over night.
9804 West McNab Road
Between March 3 at 9:45 p.m. and March 4 at 6:10 a.m., the victim had all four wheels taken from his vehicle.
Arrests
On February 26, Elliott Ronell Watson, 30, was arrested on charges of Strong Arm Robbery at 2601 West Broward Blvd.
On February 28, Jerris Rickard, 44, was arrested on charges of Touch Or Strike/battery/dating violence at the 4600 block of NW 58th Court.
On February 28, Brian D. Ashkin, 53, was arrested on charges of warrant-aggravated assault with a weapon at the 8000 block of NW 71st Court.
On February 28, Jeffrey James Luthringer, 54, was arrested on charges of public order crimes – obstruction of public streets at the 4000 block of West Commercial Blvd.
