A Margate teen at the center of a Tamarac police brutality case was arrested last week for allegedly stealing and carrying a loaded pistol, court records show.
Delucca Rolle, 18, of 5740 Lakeside Drive, was caught with the black Glock 21 on June 3 after police pulled him over in a blue 2017 Mercedes-Benz—with illegally tinted windows—on Coconut Creek Parkway near Banks Road, according to an arrest affidavit.
Rolle did not have a permit for the pistol, which had been illegally altered to make it fully automatic, the records show.
“[Rolle] stated he bought the gun ‘off the streets…for protection’ however could not tell me who he bought it from,” Margate Police wrote in the affidavit.
The gun, which police said was concealed under Rolle’s car seat, had been reported stolen in Fort Lauderdale on April 17, records show.
Police charged Rolle with grand theft of a firearm, carrying a concealed firearm, and possession of a short barrel weapon. They also wrote him a ticket for his car tints being too dark.
Records show Rolle was booked into the Broward Main Jail and released on an $8,500 bond.
Rolle has been arrested several times since a Tamarac Broward Sheriff’s Office deputy slammed his head into the pavement during a caught-on-video beating in the parking lot of Tamarac Town Center in April 2019. He was 15 at the time.
Two BSO deputies have been criminally charged in the case and have pleaded not guilty.
