A gala to celebrate Rabbi Michael Gold’s 32 years of service is set for November 12 at Temple Beth Torah Shar’aray Tzedek.

Rabbi Gold retired from the pulpit in Tamarac this year. Previously, he served as rabbi of Beth El Congregation in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Congregation Sons of Israel in Upper Nyack, New York.

A native of Los Angeles, Rabbi Gold received his B.A. in mathematics from the University of California in San Diego. The Jewish Theological Seminary ordained him in 1979. He received his Ph.D. in the Public Intellectuals Program at Florida Atlantic University in 2016, with a dissertation on process philosophy and Jewish mysticism.

He is an adjunct professor of philosophy and religion at Broward and Miami-Dade Colleges in Florida and Charter Oak College in Connecticut.

Currently, he has a part-time position as the rabbi of Temple Beth Shalom in Century Village in Boca Raton.

Rabbi Gold and his wife Evelyn are the parents of three children and one grandson.

“Rabbi Michael Gold is more than a Rabbi,” said congregant Caryn Dubrow. “He encompasses everything that a Rabbi should be. He is a spiritual leader, teacher, family man, and friend, but most importantly, he is a Mensch.”

Temple Beth Torah Shar’aray Tzedek’s Gala is Saturday, November 12, at 7:30 pm. The ticket price is $180 per person.
