Enjoy the retelling of history as Tamarac invites residents to learn the meaning and significance of Juneteenth through the art of African storytelling.
Regarded as the longest-running African-American Holiday, Juneteenth is celebrated on June 19 every year because it honors the day slavery ended when soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, in 1865.
Guests will experience an exciting performance by traditional African storytellers at the Caporella Park for free on Saturday, June 19, between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m.
African storytellers use movement and songs to perform and act out the story, taking the listener and viewer on an exciting and colorful journey.
In addition, there will also be a DJ, music, an African dance performance, storytelling, traditional games, fun activities, and ice cream.
