A woman was fatally stabbed in North Lauderdale Saturday, and her ex-boyfriend charged in her killing, authorities said.
According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit, the stabbing happened sometime before 1:50 a.m. at a residence in the 1800 block of Runners Way.
BSO deputies and North Lauderdale Fire Rescue rushed to the scene and found two adult female victims suffering from stab wounds.
Paramedics drove them to an area hospital where one of them, Maguy Pouye, was pronounced dead, according to BSO.
The second victim, Isabelle Joseph, was treated for her injuries and was listed in critical condition, detectives said.
The accused killer, Vital Joseph, 56, fled the scene, according to BSO.
Through their investigation, detectives determined that Vital Joseph— who used to live at the residence where the stabbing happened and at one time was in a relationship with Pouye — was the suspect in the incident.
Late Saturday night, Joseph was arrested by the Palm Bay Police Department with help from the Florida Highway Patrol, detectives said.
Joseph was booked into the Brevard County Jail on charges of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, and burglary of a dwelling with a battery.
No additional information about the stabbings was made public by BSO.
