A woman was assaulted and robbed at gunpoint in Lauderdale Lakes; her chilling screams caught on surveillance video before her attacker fled, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said Friday.
The victim had just parked her vehicle near the 4000 block of Northwest 34th Street on July 8, shortly after 8 a.m., when her attacker approached, deputies said. He had a slim build, stood between 6 feet and 6 feet 3 inches in height, and appeared aged 18 to 25.
He asked the woman a question, to which she replied “no” as she continued walking.
The man grabbed her by the shoulder and struck her in the head with a heavy object, deputies said.
“When the victim turned to defend herself, she realized the object was a firearm pointed at her and began screaming,” BSO spokesperson Gerdy St. Louis reported. “The victim managed to break free from the subject’s hold and ran.”
The robber fled with the victim’s purse, authorities responded, and the woman was treated on scene for her injuries, according to BSO.
Surveillance video shows a man matching the robber’s description loitering nearby before the incident and, later, captures the victim’s gut-wrenching screams for help.
