A Tamarac man is facing a felony domestic battery charge after deputies said he ripped out his wife’s gauge earring, broke her nose, and bit her during a domestic dispute.
According to a Broward County Sheriff’s Office arrest report, Hector Luis Gonzalez Acosta, 34, was arrested on April 24 and charged with aggravated battery causing bodily harm or disability.
Deputies said the incident began as a physical altercation while the couple was driving in a vehicle and continued after they arrived at their residence in the 5800 block of Northwest 56th Place.
During the altercation, Gonzalez Acosta allegedly punched the victim in the face multiple times, causing her to suffer a broken nose, according to the affidavit.
Authorities said he also ripped out the victim’s right gauge earring, causing her right earlobe to tear, and bit her left hand hard enough to break the skin.
The victim provided deputies with a sworn recorded statement, according to the affidavit.
Gonzalez Acosta was taken into custody at the Tamarac residence and later transported to the Broward County Main Jail. He was later released after posting a $7,500 bond.
