The Chabad Jewish Center of Tamarac is gearing up for its annual Passover Seder, and this year’s celebration promises to be one for the books.
The community will come together on Wednesday, April 5, at 7:15 p.m. for an interactive Passover Seder. This exciting event will include a delectable dinner, fine kosher wines, and handmade Shmurah Matzah.
According to Rabbi Kopel Silberberg, this public Seder is a great family and community tradition representing freedom and liberation.
“We believe it’s also about having that inner freedom,” he said. “Everyone struggles with something that ties them down. We try to add a deeper connection to this celebration and use it as a chance to reunite with friends, family, and the community as a whole.”
Passover is one of the most celebrated holidays on the Jewish calendar, and Rabbi Silberberg said it’s a highlight of the year for Jewish people.
For those in the community who need it, the Chabad of Tamarac will give out free Matzah for Seder. While many people get Matzah from the grocery store, the Rabbi said it’s usually square and machine-made.
“The idea is to have handmade round Shmurah Matzah for Seder and to eat it as a mitzvah,” he added.
The Chabad of Tamarac will also host a Kids Matzah Bakery on Sunday, April 2, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
This fun-filled event will teach children how to grind the wheat, make the dough, and roll out the Matzah. Admission is $10 per baker, and Rabbi Silberberg said it’s an excellent activity for the whole family in anticipation of Passover.
