Dog Bite, Fraud and Theft This Week in Tamarac Crime

Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates to residents, this is a summary of Tamarac crime and arrests through May 24, 2021.

Aggravated Assault

W Commercial Blvd

On May 18, a suspect pointed a gun at the victim, threatening to shoot him. Suspect identified by photo lineup.

Animal Bite

Woodmont Ave

On May 21, a dog escaped from a vehicle and tried to attack another dog in the parking lot. A male bystander tried to fend off the loose dog from biting another dog that was held by its owner and, in the process, was bit. The dog being held by its owner was also bitten.

Auto Theft

Melaleuca Drive

On May 18, A black Toyota Camry was stolen from the resident’s driveway. 

Baker Act

4601 Nw 31st Ave

On May 21, a 25-year-old male was acting erratic, running around and jumping in and out of traffic at Commercial and NW 31st Avenue. He appeared disoriented and stated he had a device inside of him that was about to destroy him and wanted to go to the hospital. He was Baker Acted and transported by law enforcement to a medical center.

Woodmont Way

On May 19, BSO met with a victim who called because her brother was forcibly trying to enter their home after being kicked out and pushed the victim of the way and briefly held her down.

Rock Island Road

On May 18, BSO met with a caller who advised one of her employees was battered on Tuesday, May 18, 2021.

Burglary Conveyance

NW 51st St

On May 22, the victim reports that an unknown person entered the passenger side unlocked the door to his 2019 Volkswagon Passat. The suspect stole a book bag which was left on the passenger side seat in plain view. The bookbag contained a 13″ Apple Mac Pro $1,200 and an older Apple watch $40. Tot.Est.Loss: $1,290. 

Burglary Building/structure

NW 57th Ct

On May 21, a pressure washer was stolen after a possible subject forced entry into a storage unit. Tot.Est.Loss: $700. 

Burglary Residence

NW 80th Ave

On May 22, a suspect made entry into the victim’s back window of the residence. The victim signed a waiver of prosecution. 

Criminal Mischief

NW 78th ave

On May 19, a Chrysler Sebring’s side-view mirrors were damaged, and the vehicle was keyed.  A possible suspect is the victim’s boyfriend.

Domestic Disturbance

NW 54th Ln

On May 21, the reporter advised during a verbal altercation. The suspect lunged at him with a knife.

Found Property

8601 W. Commercial Blvd – Tamarac Community Center

On May 13, two “Gucci” purses were found empty behind the community center and were turned into the BSO Tamarac district office by a city employee.


S Devon Dr – Kings Point

On May 14,  a resident was a victim of a computer/phone scam involving $1,960. The money was wired via a local bank; Receiving bank was put a hold. 

5040 block of Island Club Drive

On May 16, the victim needed to make a police report to have his money refunded back to him.  Tot.Est.Loss: $1,960. 

Woodlands Blvd

On May 21, the victim wanted to document unauthorized transactions on her credit card and for unknown inquires on her credit report. 


W Commercial Blvd

On May 15, a complainant advised a friend/acquaintance filed official information using his business corporation tax ID without his consent.

Cassia Terrace

On May 18, the victim advised that her driver’s side window on her Blue 2012 Honda Odyssey was shattered when driving on NW 82nd Street.

W Commercial Blvd

On May 22, the subject made repeated calls to a caller at her workplace, yells at her, and then immediately hangs up. This is an ongoing issue for the past couple of days. 

5400 block of White Oak Ln

On May 22, BSO with a resident at this address about a planned gathering for their unauthorized business registered at this address.


University Dr

On May 18, an elderly female attempted to place food in the back seat of her vehicle. A male, wearing a red jacket and a mask, pushed the female to the ground, stole her purse, and fled. Tot.Est.Loss: $30. 

Missing Person 

9900 Block of NW 77th St.

On May 19, a missing person was reported. 

Suspicious Incident

7100 block of Wisteria Way

On May 18, an unknown male wearing a red shirt, blue shorts, black sandals, and wearing glasses ignited a bottle on fire. No damage.

NW 84th St

On May 22, a male with a mental health illness left clothing photos of himself as a child, and flowers on the front porch of the caller’s home. The mentally ill person had dated the caller for a short time, but she hasn’t seen him in two years. 


University Dr

On May 22, the victim’s black bicycle was stolen from outside of the location by an unknown suspect. 


W Commercial Blvd

On May 18, two unknown suspects were captured on Security Video Surveillance Cameras, checking out $383.06 worth of products. Both suspects left the store without paying for the stolen items.

W Commercial Blvd

On May 20, Suspects entered the business and took 12 cans of Inflator, 10 individual packs of solid Black and solid White CottonNet t-shirts, three Cascade Action liquid soap packs, four Pennzoil Plat fit, and three Gain liquid soap. The total value of merchandise $273.68, and exited the store without paying. 

5900 block of Madison Ave

On May 20, the victim called BSO, stating that McKenzie Kendrick attempted to purchase a 2014 Jeep Compass for $23,473.36 using the victim’s personal information without her authorization or permission. 


Darville, Nelson D. (B M, 32) was arrested on charges of warrant/felony Battery (Domestic Strangulation), at NW 57th Ave Tamarac, on 05/19/2021. 

Simmons, Raymond (B M, 64) was arrested on charges of Touch Or Strike/battery/Domestic Violence at Woodmont Way, Tamarac, on 05/19/2021. 

Hobbs, Tvika Shawanda (B F, 40) was arrested on Grand Theft Motor Vehicle charges at W Commercial Blvd, Tamarac, on 05/20/2021. 

Saint Louis, Volvins Widmick (B M, 27) was arrested on charges of Dui Alcohol Or Drugs 1st Offense at 6998 W McNab Rd/NW 70th Av, Tamarac, on 05/23/2021.
