No one knows exactly what happened to Daisy, a loveable three-year-old pooch found in Fort Lauderdale. When she arrived at the Broward County shelter, the vets found a bullet in her side.
According to Broward County Animal Care, in late June, the shelter’s veterinary staff performed a routine examination every new dog receives when they noticed something unusual. An x-ray showed the bullet underneath Daisy’s skin. Thankfully, no major damage had occurred, but the bullet had been in place for a few months, and an abscess had formed around it.

After only a few weeks in the shelter’s care, Daisy had recovered and is now a happy and healthy dog. Despite the violence she experienced, she is a wonderful and loving pup, ready to meet her forever family, says shelter staff.

The Adoption Center at Broward County Animal Care is located at 2400 SW 42 Street, Fort Lauderdale, and is open Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Adoptions are free and include spaying/neutering, vaccinations, a microchip, and a Broward County pet license tag.
