Members of the Milestone Run Club participated in the Caribbean Fit Fest on June 13 at the Tamarac Sports Complex.
They were among the fitness groups that participated in the event and shared their programs with people interested in physical exercise. “We are a running club for Broward,” said co-founder Nicole Pierre.
The Milestone Run Club will host a free Juneteenth Walk/Run, known as Freedom in Motion, on Saturday morning, June 20, at 7:00 a.m. at Playa Bowls, 3111 North University Drive in Coral Springs.
The event will include a two-mile walk and a three-mile run.
“This run will be to encourage men’s mental health awareness, and runners and walkers of all paces are welcome,” said Pierre.
At the festival, participants enjoyed a variety of exercise activities, including dancehall fitness, aerobics, reggae yoga, and other workout formats. A DJ played music, creating an upbeat atmosphere.
Also present was the Run Club Elite, a running club based in Tamarac. The club offers a running activity on Monday and Wednesday evenings at the Sports Complex. Participants are encouraged to run or walk two 1.4-mile laps in the park at their own pace.
“We want to encourage personal fitness, walking, and running. We welcome people of all abilities,” said Omar Outar, owner of Run Club Elite.

This was the first time the Caribbean Fit Fest was held, and Commissioner Krystal Patterson and Vice Mayor Marlon Bolton organized it. Patterson said the event was well received.
“I was very happy with this event. It was very high energy, and we had about 20 vendors,” said Patterson.
