The J.P. Taravella football team knocked off Pompano Heavh High School last year but fell in their matchup on Thursday 35-14.
Jaden Barclay had an interception returned for a touchdown, and Michael Barns added a rushing score. Head coach Clyde Parry said despite all the adversity, he is happy the team has continued to fight to get better each week despite losing their starting quarterback and several key players.
“Our numbers are up, and I hope to improve each week, providing we can stop the quarterback carousel we’ve been on since the beginning of the season, Parry said
JPT came into the game 0-2 following losses against Hollywood Hills and Northeast High School. They will head into their next game against Everglades High School on Friday, September 13, at 7 p.m.
The Gators are 1-1 this year, defeating Fort Lauderdale High School but losing to Richmond Hill. Everglades won 35-0 in their only meeting last year to kick off the regular season.
