This is a summary of Tamarac crime events through September 2, 2024, compiled through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates with the residents.
Criminal Mischief
Colony West Golf Club was the victim of Criminal Mischief at 8200 W McNab Road, reported on 08/28/2024. An unknown subject vandalized a water fountain, golf course sign, and bridge.
A victim of Criminal Mischief was reported on 08/28/2024. A female medical client was being aggressive and fighting with staff.
Theft
A victim of Theft – All Other was reported on 08/28/2024. The total estimated loss was $6,060. The victim rented a Telsa from an unknown person, and they took the Telsa back before the return date and refused to return the victim’s $6,000.00 cash and other valuables left in the vehicle. The victim has no information on the vehicle or individuals involved, and the payment is made through a cash app.
The City of Tamarac was the victim of Theft—All Other at 7501 N University Drive on 08/28/2024. The total estimated loss was $1,200. A Tamarac City employee reported that the copper wires from the light poles were stolen.
Speedway was the victim of Theft—all Other at 2401 W Commercial Blvd, which was reported on 08/29/2024. The total estimated loss was $1,200. An investigation revealed that the offender stole money from the cash register.
Walmart Neighborhood Market was the victim of Theft—Retail / Shoplifting at 6931 N Pine Island Road, which was reported on 08/30/2024. The total estimated loss was $315. Three male subjects stole wood pallets from the rear of Walmart and fled in a yellow pickup truck.
Publix Liquor was the victim of Theft—Retail / Shoplifting at 5873 N University Drive, reported on 08/28/2024. The total estimated loss was $194. Two unknown subjects stole several items from the business.
Burglary Conveyance
A victim of Burglary Conveyance was reported on 08/29/2024. The total estimated loss was $20. A vehicle burglary in the plaza’s parking lot was reported.
A victim of Burglary Conveyance was reported on 08/30/2024. The total estimated loss was $2,050. Fraudulent credit card use from a vehicle burglary in the plaza’s parking lot was reported.
A victim of Burglary Conveyance was reported on 08/31/2024. The total estimated loss was $300. A vehicle burglary in the Planet Fitness parking lot was reported, with a smashed rear window and a purse stolen.
Information
Information was reported on 09/01/2024. BSO responded to the area for what residents believed to be unknown subjects with a rifle. Contact was made to confirm that the parties were iguana hunting with an airsoft rifle.
Arrests
Ayala, Kelly Michelle, 40, was arrested on 08/29/2024 on a charge of Larceny—Grand Theft 750 less than 5k Dollars.
Cassius, Johnny, 42, was arrested on 08/30/2024 on a charge of Larceny—Petit Theft 1 Degree 100 less than 750 Dollars.
