Join the annual Memorial Day Ceremony in Tamarac to pay tribute to the courageous men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their community and country.
The ceremony includes a keynote address by Vietnam Veteran Levoyd Williams. Williams served his country in Germany for a year and a half before his deployment to Vietnam. In Vietnam, he served as an Army Staff Sergeant in the Americal Division and was awarded the Bronze Star for his service. Following his tour in Vietnam, Williams continued his community affairs efforts by mentoring young adults in the Boys and Girls Club, advising students in Junior Achievement, and cultivating educational programs at several churches.
The presentation of colors will be led by Tamarac Fire Rescue. Vocalist Chantal Deshaies will sing the national anthem. Additionally, there will be a wreath-laying ceremony and a bagpipe performance of “Amazing Grace,” which will honor fallen American military heroes.
The program will be held on Monday, May 27, at 10:30 a.m. at Veterans’ Memorial Park at 7825 Southgate Blvd.
