Discover the transformative power of art at the upcoming Community Workshop presented by Susan S. Buzzi as part of “The Kindness Project.”
Held on Thursday, May 11, at 3.30 p.m. at Tamarac Community Center, the workshop offers a series of art-related activities for all ages aimed at promoting empathy, mindfulness, and wellness through creative expression. The event is free and open to all ages.
With the guidance of Buzzi, a Tamarac resident, coach practitioner, and arts educator at Atlantis Academy in Coral Springs, and Dr. Jeffrey Pickens, Ph.D., professor of psychology and human development expert, participants will explore different forms of artistic expression to nurture their mental and emotional well-being.
All supplies are provided, and completed works will be exhibited during National Mental Health Awareness Month alongside Buzzi’s photography and inspirational quotes.
The opening reception for the exhibit will be held on Saturday, May 27, at 3 p.m. at the Tamarac Community Center.
Buzzi received an Individual Artist Grant from Broward County Cultural Division for “The Kindness Project,” an intergenerational and multi-disciplinary program promoting empathy, mindfulness, and wellness through art.
This is the fourth time Bazzi has received the grant, which helped her create a photo documentary and exhibit about domestic abuse last year.
The artist said she is pleased and thankful that the Cultural Division has funded the Kindness Project.
“The programming and exhibit will involve communities in Broward County and therefore serve as a direct reflection of the importance of kindness, empathy, and mindfulness in our lives,” Buzzi said, adding that three years after the pandemic, it is extremely important to connect with others, socialize, and find positive ways to express oneself through art and mindful practices.

“The Kindness Project focuses on the positive and will hopefully encourage and inspire camaraderie and connection through art in our diverse community,” Buzzi added.
