An artistic message of love has a new home – in Tamarac.
The message came not in a bottle but as a mural painted by acclaimed visionary graffiti artist and muralist Cey Adams. The new mural, gracing the front wall at the Community Center of Tamarac, 8601 W. Commercial Boulevard, is one of nine murals (some completed; some in the planning stages) scattered throughout Broward County as part of Adam’s Lead with Love series.

This new, colorful piece of art is the sixth installment of this public arts initiative, carried out in collaboration among the Community Foundation of Broward, Business for the Arts Broward, and Adams. The Lead with Love mural project began in 2024 and will run through 2027. The finishing touches were completed in Tamarac on June 1. It took two weeks to complete.
Adams describes the project as a transformative public art initiative to spread a message of love and unity across Broward County. He said his goal is to utilize the power of the arts to enrich and unify the community and promote cultural engagement.
“I think it’s to create a message that connects with people,” Adams said in a phone interview from his native New York City. He currently resides in Brooklyn.
Adams said the message of love is something to which we can all relate, “especially with what’s going on in the world. We need this kind of thing. It started with the Beatles in the 1960s.”
North Lauderdale resident and community center employee Genie Placide agrees with the artist’s emotions. “Overall I think it’s a beautiful statement piece,” she said. “Something to bring the world together. That’s what we need in the world right now.”
“We are very excited that the Community Foundation of Broward selected Tamarac to be one of the nine locations across Broward County for the Lead with Love mural,” said Tamarac Mayor Michelle J. Gomez. “We are very proud to be a multigenerational, multi-cultural city that is united through love. As such, we thought the mural would be perfect on our Community Center facing Commercial Boulevard in the vibrant colors of our city logo.
“May everybody who passes by it feel inspired, bold and loved.”
The Community Foundation of Broward has been promoting art and culture for 40 years, said Kirk Engelhardt, the foundation’s vice president. Originally, it was planned for Adams to do one Lead with Love mural in the county, Engelhardt said, but it was decided to do nine.
“Let’s spread the wealth throughout the county,” he said, adding that murals add to a community and become landmarks for each community.”
