Man Attacks, Robs Woman With Her 3 Children at North Lauderdale Grocery Store

By Kevin Deutsch

A man brazenly attacked and robbed a woman walking into a grocery store with her three small children in North Lauderdale last week, authorities said.

Detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office Robbery Unit seek the public’s help in identifying the attacker, who approached the woman from behind just as she and her children entered the Broward Meat and Fish Company store at 8040 W. McNab Rd. on Aug. 23.

Surveillance video released by investigators showed the unidentified man grabbing the woman’s necklace, punching her, and fleeing the store after a brief struggle with the woman around 4:15 p.m.

The video showed the attacker driving a light-colored Nissan into a nearby parking lot. He was seen parking the vehicle in the back of a shopping plaza and exiting the car wearing a light-colored hat, shirt, and dark-colored pants, according to BSO.

A few minutes after the man got out of the car, the victim and her three small children were seen walking through another area of the parking lot while holding hands, investigators said.

The man was seen walking a short distance from them. The victim and her children entered the store, and the robber attacked her just as they passed through the store’s doors.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the robber’s identity to call BSO Robbery Detective Robert Sokol at 954-321-5018 or to submit a tip through the SaferWatch App.

Those wishing to remain anonymous can contact Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477), submit a tip online at browardcrimestoppers.org, or dial **TIPS (8477) from any cell phone in the United States.
