
Charles Beneby (BSO)
A man was arrested Thursday for allegedly stabbing a 78-year-old woman in Lauderhill, leaving her with critical injuries, police said.
Charles Beneby, 21, allegedly stabbed the woman in the area of a condominium building at 3771 Environ Blvd. on Thursday, according to Lauderhill Police.
Beneby, who police said does not know the victim, is charged with attempted murder.
Officers arrived at the scene shortly after 3:30 a.m. Thursday and found the stabbed woman outside the condominium building suffering from multiple stab wounds.
Lauderhill Fire Rescue arrived and rushed the victim to Broward Health, where she was listed in critical condition Friday, police said.
Police said Beneby was found Thursday and taken into custody by officers. He was being held without bond Friday at the BSO Main Jail.
There are no other suspects in the case, police said, and the motive for the crime is not known.
The case remains under investigation, police said.
