Man Dies After Parking Space Dispute Ends in Fatal Shooting at North Lauderdale Walmart

A man died Tuesday afternoon after he was shot during an apparent dispute over a parking space in the parking lot of a Walmart in North Lauderdale, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

The shooting occurred at about 12:28 p.m. on June 30 in the parking lot of the Walmart at 7900 W. McNab Road.

According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, deputies and North Lauderdale Fire Rescue responded after Broward County Regional Communications received reports of a shooting.

When deputies arrived, they found Bart Diguglielmo, 62, of Lauderhill, suffering from a gunshot wound. Paramedics transported him to Broward Health Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

Investigators said the preliminary investigation determined Diguglielmo and an adult woman became involved in a verbal altercation over a parking space before the shooting.

According to detectives, the woman remained at the scene, cooperated with investigators and told them she fired the weapon in self-defense.

BSO homicide detectives said the case will be presented to the Broward County State Attorney’s Office after the investigation is complete to determine whether criminal charges will be filed.

The investigation remains ongoing.
