Dear Neighbors:
Can you believe it is November?! While we continue to modify our traditions this year, the constant that remains is our love, support, and gratitude — for our Veterans, our families, and our friends.
This month marks a historic election. We are grateful to everyone who voted, all the volunteers, poll workers, and the Broward Sheriff Officers for their tireless efforts! Thank you to the candidates for their willingness to serve and their families and friends for supporting them on their journey.
The City of Tamarac is accepting applications for three assistance programs that help residents experiencing financial hardships due to COVID-19. To apply for the Residential Assistance Program, Emergency Repair Grant Program, or the Connectivity and Technology for Employment Support Program, please visit www.tamarac.org/housing or call (954) 597-3549.
Please join us for our first-ever evening Veterans Day event! Come out to Veterans Park on Wednesday, November 11th, from 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. to participate in a candle lighting honoring our Veterans and view the illuminated Veterans Honor Wall. Participants must wear a facial covering and remain socially distanced. All Veterans will receive a keepsake pin from the City in honor of their service.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support our local businesses. They need our support and are doing everything possible for you to feel comfortable going to their business as they continue to follow the CDC guidelines and protocols.
This year, our 40th Annual Turkey Trot 5K will take place virtually. Interested participants can download the RaceJoy app in advance to send out invites to family and friends. To register for the Virtual Turkey Trot, click here.
Food distribution will continue Saturdays at the Korean United Methodist Church located at 6501 W. Commercial Blvd. from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., or while supplies last. They will also take place at the Christian Life Center located at 2699 West Commercial Blvd. from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 11th and 18th, and the Community Christian Church, located at 10001 W. Commercial Blvd from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., on Monday, November 23rd.
As always, I ask that on Veterans Day, and every day, please take a moment to:
Honor our Veterans and the Fallen; appreciate the unsung heroes who serve and sacrifice every day without any recognition; thank the family and friends who support and love our heroes daily; appreciate those who are currently serving and who will be our future defenders, and remain proud to be living in our wonderful country!
The holiday season can be difficult for people, especially anyone experiencing economic hardship, health challenges, or loneliness. Please take some time to reach out to friends and loved ones with a simple phone call, email, or kind gesture. It could mean so much more than you realize!
Happy Thanksgiving!
Warm regards,
Michelle
