Michel’le to Headline Tamarac Juneteenth Community & Culture Block Party

Platinum-selling R&B artist Michel’le will headline the City of Tamarac’s Juneteenth Community & Culture Block Party on Friday, June 19, bringing an evening of music, culture, and community celebration to the Tamarac Village Amphitheater.

The free event begins at 6 p.m. at 9090 NW 57th St. and commemorates Juneteenth, the federal holiday recognizing the end of slavery in the United States.

Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy a “Freedom Feast” curated by Chef Nicholas Sayles, featuring an interactive culinary experience with a variety of flavorful dishes.

The celebration will also include a Black-owned marketplace showcasing local businesses and organizations, such as ROC Art & Culture, Innergy Dance Co., the Double Dutch Club, and Historically African American Greek-letter organizations, among others.

The evening’s entertainment will be headlined by Michel’le, whose hits including “No More Lies,” “Nicety” and “Something in My Heart” helped define the R&B genre in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Special guest INTRO will also perform during the event.

Local step teams, dance groups and cultural artists are scheduled to take the stage throughout the evening, celebrating Black history, heritage and the significance of Juneteenth through music and performance.

The event is free and open to the public.

In observance of Juneteenth, Tamarac City Hall and other city offices will be closed Friday.
