There is nothing like a good Thanksgiving tradition, and it is fair to say that the Turkey Trot, the 5K race organized by the city of Tamarac, has become an annual event locals look forward to.
The Thanksgiving race attracted 2100 runners, one of the highest turnouts in the history of the Turkey Trot. Director of Tamarac’s Parks and Recreation Greg Warner said that witnessing the growth of the race through the years has been exciting.
“We were thrilled to see so many runners, walkers, and Tamarac Turkey “Trotters” of all ages enjoying the city’s annual Turkey Trot,” he said. “It’s great to see people making us a part of their holiday tradition.”
Over 200 people made charitable donations before and during the race, raising a total of $1,178 for the Parks and Recreation Foundation of Tamarac.
The youngest participants this year were Michael Abrams and Jack Meserole, both two years old, and the oldest runner was Jules Kirsch, 92.
