Commissioner Krystal Patterson Invites Class of 2027 to College Readiness Boot Camp

District 3 Commissioner Krystal Patterson is inviting Tamarac students in the Class of 2027 to participate in a Junior Year College Readiness Boot Camp designed to help families prepare for the college application process.

 The workshop will take place Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Tamarac Community Center, 8601 W. Commercial Blvd.

The boot camp is geared toward rising juniors and will focus on building a strong foundation for college planning. Students will leave with a preliminary college list based on researching three to five schools, along with a college “fit” criteria worksheet.

Participants will also receive a personalized college planning packet that includes a junior-year checklist, a fall semester action plan, and guidance on SAT and ACT testing strategies. Additional sessions will cover academic and extracurricular planning, including transcript reviews, course selection, leadership development, and summer planning.

The program will also provide application pre-work, such as creating a brag sheet, drafting an activities résumé, and brainstorming topics for personal statements.

Registration is $250 and must be paid by Jan. 2. Students who live in District 3 may attend free of charge. Lunch will be provided.
