A 28-year-old man was struck and killed by a car in Tamarac on Monday, authorities said.
According to detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit, Walky Israel was crossing the street in the 3100 block of West Commercial Boulevard at 4:28 a.m. when a 2018 Lexus RX 250, heading east on Commercial with driver Worrell Hylton behind the wheel, struck him down.
Israel, of Deerfield Beach, was thrown into the westbound left turn lane. Tamarac Fire Rescue arrived and pronounced him dead at the scene.
Detectives said Hylton, a 61-year-old man from Tamarac, remained on scene and cooperated with investigators.
Additional information about the crash was not immediately made public by BSO.
Detectives said their investigation is ongoing.
