Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers celebrated its grand opening in Tamarac on May 13 with a ribbon cutting, a party, and giveaways.
Members of the City Commission, Tamarac North Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce, and Raising Cane’s leadership led the opening celebration for the new restaurant at 5600 North University Drive.
Customers got up early to be among the first to enter and enjoy a meal of chicken tenders and French fries. There was a lucky 20 drawing to award 20 customers with free Canes for a year, a commemorative hat, and a free box combo for the first 100 customers who purchased a box combo. A DJ played music, and leaders from the company recited some of Raising Cane’s history.
Store manager Jennifer Luchansky thanked the associates who worked hard to prepare the new restaurant to open and welcomed the first customers.
Commissioner Morey Wright said, “We are excited to have this new amazing restaurant in our city.”
Mayor Michelle J. Gomez believes the new Raising Cane’s will benefit the residents of Tamarac. She is glad a restaurant was built in place of a former bank building. “This is fantastic and will be a good business for our community,” she said.
Raising Cane’s offers a simple and fun menu based on chicken fingers and sandwiches. The various sizes available range from the box combo with four chicken fingers, fries, sauce, Texas toast, coleslaw, and a fountain drink to the 100-finger tailgate for big social events.
The founder and CEO, Todd Graves, proudly shares his stories online about his challenges as a young man and how he started Raising Cane’s.
According to company lore presented at the opening, Todd Graves got the lowest grade in his college business class for his restaurant business plan. He traveled to Los Angeles and worked long hours as a boiler maker at an oil refinery and then on a fishing boat in Alaska. He decided to open his first restaurant near the Louisiana State University campus and named it after his beloved dog, Raising Cane. A hard hat was displayed in honor of his early days during the opening ceremony.
Raising Cane’s is open from 10 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. from Sunday through Thursday and from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. Got News? Send it to Tamarac Talk.
