Military flyovers in South Florida are becoming a regular thing.
Just a few weeks after The Blue Angels circled the coast as a thank you to healthcare workers, a “salute flight” featuring U.S. Air Force F-16C Fighting Falcon aircraft, a U.S. Coast Guard MH65 helicopter and a USCG C-144 aircraft will now soar over South Florida on Saturday, May 23.
Following the cancelation of this year’s Memorial Day weekend Air and Sea Show, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, The National Salute to America’s Heroes decided on an alternative plan.
“Salute 365,” will recognize local healthcare professionals, first responders, and others fighting and risking their own safety to care for others. The “Salute Flight” will travel over 34 South Florida hospitals, including University Hospital and Medical Center in Tamarac to recognize frontline workers.
From the USASalute website: “There is no better time than Memorial Day weekend to pay tribute to our Military, First Responders, and those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice on behalf of our freedom and to the deserving members of our community that are on the front lines fighting against this world-wide pandemic and express our appreciation and gratitude for their service.”
Once again, residents should observe the flyover from the safety of their homes, and refrain from traveling to see it. The schedule of South Florida hospitals is below.

The Hyundai Air & Sea Show will resume next year during Memorial Day weekend from May 29 to 30, 2021.
