Incidents & Investigations
Fraud – Impersonation:
A Tamarac resident reported losing approximately $2,200 after being contacted by a man claiming to work for the Broward Sheriff’s Office, who instructed the victim to send money via Zelle for a supposed “pretrial intervention program” involving their son.
Auto Theft:
A vehicle was reported stolen from a parking lot along North University Drive after the owner discovered it missing upon leaving work. The vehicle was entered as stolen.
Burglary – Business:
A suspect reached over the counter at a Wendy’s in Tamarac, opened the cash register, stole $10, and then used the money to purchase food. The suspect was later identified by deputies.
Aggravated Assault (Road Rage):
During a road rage incident, a victim reported that an unknown male pointed a firearm at him before fleeing the area.
Battery – Dating Violence:
A woman reported being struck in the face by her boyfriend during an argument inside a Tamarac residence. She wished to press charges.
Domestic Battery:
Deputies arrested a man after a verbal argument escalated into a physical altercation with his wife. The victim reported being grabbed, shaken, and pushed against a wall.
Aggravated Battery – Domestic Violence:
A domestic incident involving a grandmother and her 13-year-old granddaughter resulted in injuries. The suspect struck the grandmother with a ceramic cup, causing a facial injury.
Death Investigation:
Deputies responded to a report of an unresponsive 92-year-old woman. No signs of trauma or suspicious circumstances were observed, and the death appeared consistent with natural causes.
Grand Theft:
A victim reported $1,800 stolen from inside her home, allegedly by movers. No witnesses or surveillance cameras were available.
Fraud – Bitcoin Scam:
A Tamarac woman reported losing approximately $21,000 after being persuaded to invest money through a cryptocurrency scheme initiated via social media.
Retail Theft / Shoplifting:
Multiple retail thefts were reported at businesses along West Commercial Boulevard, with suspects passing points of sale without payment.
Criminal Mischief:
Incidents included windows shattered by thrown objects and vehicle tires slashed during domestic-related disputes.
Theft – All Other:
Several residents reported stolen packages, vehicle tags, bicycles, and personal property, with losses ranging from $50 to $671.
Baker Act / Mental Health Incidents:
Deputies responded to multiple calls involving suicidal ideations or mental health crises, resulting in individuals being transported to behavioral health facilities for evaluation.
Domestic Disturbances (Non-Crime):
Numerous verbal-only domestic incidents were documented where no physical violence occurred and no arrests were made.

Alejandra Maria Soto-Hernandez, 42 – Assault, domestic violence
Robert Paul Anderson, 36 – Dating violence battery
Kelly Nicole Petion, 40 – Battery on a law enforcement officer (felony)
Cortez Xavier Walker, 26 – Resisting an officer without violence
Michael Jay Crary, 49 – Domestic battery
