Hyacinth Linton {BSO}
Two Spirit Airlines employees from Tamarac were charged with petit theft after investigators say they stole a Louis Vuitton wristlet purse left at a gate counter at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, according to a Broward Sheriff’s Office arrest affidavit.
The affidavit says the incident began on Oct. 19 when the female victim arrived at Terminal 3 for a Spirit flight to Austin, Texas. At about 8:09 p.m., surveillance video captured the victim leaving her $505 Louis Vuitton wristlet on the Gate 6 counter prior to boarding, the affidavit says.
At about 8:10 p.m., the affidavit says, another passenger found the wristlet and gave it to Spirit Airlines employees working at Gate F6. The affidavit states that surveillance video showed the Spirit employees working at the gate and that “at no time does anyone remove” the purse or try to do so.
On Oct. 22, at about 5:51 a.m., the affidavit says surveillance video captured Hyacinth Linton, 56, of Tamarac, identified as a Spirit Airlines employee, arriving at Gate F4, going behind the counter, and standing next to co-defendant and fellow Spirit employee Olukunle Idowu, 49, also of Tamarac, as he held a plastic bag.
The affidavit says cameras later captured Idowu putting the wristlet’s contents into his plastic bag, and Linton placing the wristlet inside her personal backpack.
At about 5:59 a.m., the affidavit says cameras captured Linton and Idowu leaving the area with the victim’s Louis Vuitton wristlet still in Linton’s backpack.
Linton was arrested Nov. 13 and charged with petit theft. Court records show she was released from jail on a $500 bond. She has not entered a plea, the records show.
Idowu was arrested Nov. 21 and has pleaded not guilty, according to court records. Bond information was not available for his case Friday.
