Tamarac Crime Update through July 15 1

Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates to residents, this is a summary of crimes that occurred in Tamarac through July 15.  Names of those not arrested have been redacted.

Burglary Residence

7100 block of Woodmont Ave – Jasmine at Woodmont
On July 9, the victim reported a burglary of a residence occurred, where the glass from the living room sliding door was smashed, and items were taken.

8800 block of Paradise Drive
On July 14, BSO reported an attempted burglary at an unoccupied residence. Nothing was taken, and a rear glass door was broken.

4600 block of Norfolk Island Pine Drive – Woodlands Country Club
On July 15, an unknown suspect(s) attempted to break into the victim’s home between 7/14 and 7/15 by removing two screens from two different windows in the backyard. The suspect(s) also tried smashing two back glass doors with an unknown type of weapon but were unsuccessful due to the hurricane-proof impact windows.

Burglary Conveyance

8300 block of Sands Point Blvd
On July 11, BSO reported a total of five vehicles had windows smashed in to gain entry into them. Items were removed from inside two of the vehicle’s center consoles. One had nothing removed, and the drivers of the other two vehicles were out of the country and not able to be reached. All five vehicles were processed for latent fingerprints by BSO CSA. An area canvass was conducted, and no witnesses could be located. One apartment had a video surveillance camera in the front window but did not record the incident.

7200 block of NW 77th Street
On July 11, the reporting person advised two unknown males attempted to burglarize the vehicle belonging to his wife that was parked in the driveway of their home by checking the door handle to see if it was unlocked. The vehicle was locked, and no entry was made. Ring Doorbell video provided to BSO.

6500 block of Catalina Lane – Catalina Place
On July 11, a loaded handgun was taken from an unsecured vehicle. The serial number was documented and entered into Teletype.

7700 block of NW 78th Ave
On July 14, the victim reported his Chevy Silverado was broken into overnight and items were taken.

Auto Theft

6100 block of NW 72nd Ave
On July 14, the victim reported his white Nissan Altima was parked in front of his residence. An unknown suspect stole the vehicle overnight, which was unlocked, and the key was left inside. The victim signed the Auto Theft Affidavit Form, and the vehicle was entered into Records Teletype.

7100 block of NW 68th Street
On July 15, the victim reported his white BMW was parked in front of his residence. An unknown suspect stole the vehicle overnight, which was unlocked and had the key inside. The victim signed the Auto Theft Affidavit Form, and the vehicle was entered into Teletype.

Information

8100 block of NW 67th Ave
On July 12, the victim reported that he had observed the suspect throwing items from their back patio into the flower beds in the back yard overnight. In the morning, they found their plastic shed taken apart and thrown into separate pieces in the backyard, along with other various items. The only totally broken item police saw in the backyard was a clay pot. No victims were listed.

Theft – All other

4700 block of Banyan Lane – Woodlands Country Club
On July 13, a female victim reported a black semi-automatic Walther PK380 handgun, valued at $365 taken from her house between 6/11/19 and 6/15/19, when the family was out of town.

Fraud – False Pretense

7700 block of NW 78th Ave
On July 10, a victim in California received a call stating a friend in BSO jail required $8700 cash for a bond and needed the money sent to a Tamarac address via FedEx.

Battery

4601 NW 31st Ave – Subway Restaurant
On July 10, a female came to the Subway to pick up her friend and got into a fight with a known female who was at the restaurant looking for a fight.

Theft – Retail/Shoplifting

3915 West Commercial Blvd – CVS
On July 11, two subjects were observed removing perfume from behind the counter at CVS and exiting the store.

3101 West Commercial Blvd – 7-Eleven
On July 13, an unknown suspect stole items from the 7-Eleven.

Burglary Business

7450 W McNab Road – Dunkin’ Donuts
On July 9, an unknown subject entered the Dunkin’ Donuts by breaking the drive-thru window and removed a cash drawer, which was empty.

4400 Woodlands Blvd – Club Link Corp
On July 9, the victim reported an unknown suspect(s) went inside the mechanic shop and crashed a golf cart into another cart, causing a tank filled with bug spray to crack and leak. There were no signs of forced entry. Four golf cart keys were taken.
