Meet the candidates running for the Tamarac city commission and mayoral seat. Residents may even get an opportunity to ask them a question about their platform and plans for the city.

Tamarac North Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce is hosting the event with all ten candidates on Tuesday, October 11, from 6.30 to 8 p.m. at the Woodmont Country Club. Each candidate will have three minutes at the podium and a chance to introduce themselves and answer questions from the constituents.

Current Mayor Michelle Gomez is being challenged by Vice Mayor Mike Gelin, who is stepping down from his District 2 commission seat to run for mayor.

With Gelin out of the race in District 2, five candidates are running for the seat, including real estate investor Alexandra Alvarez, industrial specialist and adjunct professor  Joseph Lanouette, seasoned attorney Stuart Michelson, small business owner and veteran Tyneka Rene, and businessman Morey Wright.

Commissioner Debra Placko is not running for reelection, which leaves three candidates competing for the District 4 seat, including school principal Kicia Daniel, retired Broward County School Board administrator Carol Mendelson, and retirement consulting professional David Witman Mountford.

Send your questions to info@tamaracnorthlauderdale.org. Questions will be selected randomly, and there is no guarantee every question will be asked.

Woodmont Country Club is located at 7801 NW 80th Ave.
