The city commission recognized three Tamarac Firefighters after receiving the 2022 EMS Week Awards.
Mayor Michelle Gomez read the proclamation requested by Tamarac fire chief Michael Annese at the June 8 meeting.
“You all look super handsome. I hope I am allowed to say that,” said the mayor to lieutenant Giovanni Esponda and firefighters Ryan Lynch and Christopher Curbelo as they made their way to the dais.
The men laughed, and Gomez added, “I’ll get in trouble later!”
She said that Esponda always works hard to improve his skills, demonstrating a can-do attitude and showing exceptional empathy and care to his patients. Lynch, because of his consistent lead medical skills in high-profile incidents such as vehicle rollovers and extraction, patient organ transplant, intubation, and eye traumas. Curbelo for taking the lead for the Tamarac Fire Rescue ALS competition team and doing exceptionally well among other agencies’ competitions while being passionate, driven, and always willing to help others.
“Lieutenant Esponda and firefighters Lynch and Curbelo are highly valued members of the Tamarac Fire Department. Their selfless and overall caring attitude is an image that the public associates with members of the fire service,” said Gomez.
Annual Emergency Medical Services Awards Week was celebrated May 15-21, during which Broward County Hospitals recognized first responders and medical providers for their contribution to saving lives.
