Tamarac Participates in “Operation Backpack” to Help Local Students

Filled-backpack

Disadvantaged children in our community need your help. Pack a backpack and give a child a head start in school this year.

School starts on August 22, and children all over the City of Tamarac are heading back without the basic supplies they need. Now in its fourth year, the City of Tamarac is asking for your help collecting these supplies. According to City Spokesperson Elise Boston, last year they were able to fill 15 backpacks.

“The recipients are residents in need who we’ve worked with in the past year, either through our social services department or summer camp,” said Boston.

Make it your mission to double the number of backpacks filled this year.  Drop off your filled backpack or school supplies by Monday, August 8th to the Tamarac Community Center, City Hall, Parks and Recreation Administrative Building or the Caporella Aquatic Center.
