Comic books, cosplay, gaming, and family-friendly fun will take center stage Saturday, Jan. 17, when Lauderhill Comic Con takes over the Inverrary Community Center for a full day of pop-culture celebration.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Inverrary Community Center, 3300 Inverrary Blvd., and is designed for longtime comic fans, gamers, cosplayers and families looking for a creative, all-ages experience.
Attendees can browse vendors and artist tables featuring comics, collectibles, original artwork and exclusive merchandise, while gamers can enjoy live gameplay and hands-on activities throughout the day. Panel discussions will spotlight themed conversations led by industry professionals and community voices.
Cosplay will be a major highlight, capped by a Cosplay Contest beginning at 3 p.m., where participants can compete for prizes and showcase their creativity. Additional activities include themed photo stations, cosplay meet-ups, free art sessions, kids crafts, chalk art, lawn games and outdoor family activities. Local food vendors will be on site, along with the City Bar offering drinks for adults.
Several special guests are scheduled to appear throughout the day, including Karan Ashley, best known for portraying Aisha, the Yellow Ranger, on Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Ashley will be available for photo opportunities, autographs, Q&A sessions and merchandise signings until 3 p.m.
Fans of animation can also meet Luis Carreño, the longtime Latin American voice of SpongeBob SquarePants, who will host a panel and greet fans for photos and autographs until 3:30 p.m.
The guest lineup also includes SSJGOSHIN4, a Dragon Ball influencer and cosplayer with more than 414,000 followers, who will serve as a special guest and Cosplay Contest judge; Marius Groover of Versatyle Industries, known for movie-quality cosplay builds including a 9-foot Bumblebee Transformer; and Vinnie Tartamella, a former lead designer for McFarlane Toys and accomplished comic book artist.
Advance registration for the Cosplay Contest will be open online through Jan. 15 at 2 p.m., or until categories are filled. Space is limited, and participants may enter only one category. All registered cosplayers must check in by 2 p.m. on event day to secure their spot. Any unclaimed slots will be offered to waitlisted participants, with limited on-site registration available if space permits.
