To help raise funds for the 6th Annual Animal Adoption Fair which helps save the lives of hundreds of rescue animals, a Hawaiian-themed fundraiser will be taking place in Tamarac.
The Annual Animal Adoption Fair led by Brook Katz of Brookhaven Animal Sanctuary, is an annual event that has led to over 1,400 successful adoptions of rescue dogs and cats.

The fundraising dinner in Tamarac help pay for the building rental and to keep parking free for visitors at the Annual Animal Adoption Fair.
The fair, which costs Katz over $25,000 in building rental and parking fees, brings rescue groups from the tri-county area together into one location where visitors can find their forever friend under one roof.
“There is no way on Earth any of these small rescues or charity groups could do anything like this,” said Katz. “And the only groups that are able to do these things do them autonomously – they don’t help the other groups. They do it for a fundraiser for themselves.”
Katz offers free vendor spaces to all rescue organizations and shelters at the War Memorial Auditorium in Fort Lauderdale. But it’s not free for his nonprofit which raises money to pay for this event every year – and one of the ways is their charity fundraiser.
“This [fundraising] event allows us to continue to give charities free spaces, and the public free admission and parking. If we don’t break even, it comes out of my pocket – and we’ve yet to break even,” he said.
