Sancia Beckford {BSO}
Police say an Uber driver fled his car and called 911 after a woman allegedly snorted cocaine, threatened to stab him, and damaged his vehicle during a violent incident outside a Tamarac Publix.
According to a Broward Sheriff’s Office arrest report, Sancia Beckford, 26, was arrested on April 8 following an incident that occurred on February 25 at a Publix located at 8245 North Pine Island Road.
Deputies say the victim, an Uber driver, arrived at the location to pick up Beckford. Upon getting in his vehicle, the driver told deputies she allegedly started snorting what he believed to be cocaine. When the driver asked her to stop and exit the vehicle, she refused and attacked him.
Investigators say Beckford grabbed a pen and threatened the driver, telling him she would “stick it in your head,” while simultaneously striking him in the shoulder with her other hand. Fearing for his safety, the driver called 911 and exited the vehicle.
Authorities said the situation escalated further as Beckford allegedly kicked and damaged parts of the vehicle’s interior, spat on both the driver and the vehicle, and punched the front bumper, leaving visible damage.
The victim later provided a repair estimate totaling $4,481.49 for the damage to his vehicle, according to the report.
Surveillance cameras at the Publix captured portions of the incident, including Beckford outside the vehicle arguing and spitting toward the victim, deputies said.
Through investigative efforts, deputies identified Beckford using Uber records and later made contact with her at her Lauderdale Lakes apartment. She admitted to being involved in the altercation but denied any physical violence, though she acknowledged spitting on the victim after being shown video evidence, according to the report.
Beckford was taken into custody and transported to the Broward County Main Jail. She was later released after posting a $9,500 bond.
