Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash in Tamarac

Tamarac Talk reported on Saturday about a two-vehicle crash that sent two people to the hospital.  We have just received an update from BSO and have found out that the elderly woman has died following the crash.

The fatal collision happened approximately 10:40 a.m. May 26 near 5000 Rock Island Rd. The victim, 87-year-old Emilie Slavinski, of Tamarac, was traveling south on Rock Island Road and turning left onto Northwest 50 Street when the 2001 Chevrolet Malibu she was driving was struck on the passenger side by a northbound 2000 Honda Accord driven by Perdomo Samuels, 24, also of Tamarac.

BSO’s air rescue transported Slavinski to Broward Health Medical Center where she died Saturday. Samuels was also taken to Broward Health Medical Center by Tamarac Fire Rescue. There were no passengers in the vehicles.

Charges are pending while Broward Sheriff’s Office traffic homicide detectives are investigating.

I’m very sorry that the lady has died after this terrible crash. I know theres more accidents on Rock Island than this because the speeders on this street are terrible. They fly down this street and there is nothing to stop them. Not that the man is to blame because I have no idea if the lady turned in front of him, but I bet he was speeding down this street.

  • I live in this community of Mainlands and between the hours of 7;30 to 9;30 am. and 3;30 pm til? we all take our chances of being on 50th Ave as the cars are cutting thru our community,to avoid the traffic light on Commercial & Rock island. Believe me there will be more accidents and deaths due to this problem.

I also live off of Rock Island Rd in the Mainlands, the speeding is terrible, and the crotch rocket motorcycles at night are flying down the road as fast as they can, as well as cars, and the pounding stero’s, how can they hear anyone blow the horn at them? Its so loud it vibrates the windows in our houses.
Needs to be patroled more by police.
