The mayoral campaign in Tamarac has been a contentious race and has included a few dirty tricks including sign-stealing and mailers accusing one Democrat of being a Republican.
The candidates in the three-way race for the mayor’s seat are: Michelle Gomez, Gerald Heller and Elvin Villalobos. This week, Heller said his website www.GeraldHeller.com was hacked, and instead of his message and photos, pornography was in its place.
“They put the most dirtiest disgusting things on: whores nude, trying to do their business online,” said Heller.
Heller said it was the most disturbing thing he’s ever seen. He didn’t know exactly who did it, but there were a lot of dirty tricks going on, including a mailer that was sent out to thousand of homes stating he was a Republican.
Heller, a member of the Kings Point Democratic Club, is a registered Democrat, along with candidate Elvin Villalobos. The mailer from the address at 8525 N Pine Island Road in Tamarac, does not exists and leads to the Stranahan River.
As of press time, the porn from Heller’s website had been removed, and it was back up on Safari, however, it was still down on Google because it lacked an SSL certificate. He insisted the website had safety measures put in place by the designer.
“Whatever it needed, it had. It was done professionally, but for whatever reason they got through it.”
