Do you know what you would do if your dog collapsed?
The truth is, not many people would, and a good number of pet parents, animal shelter staff, and first responders are not trained for these types of emergency situations.
Mayor Michelle Gomez is hosting a Furever Friends Pet Expo to share information about the life-saving procedures for cats and dogs and to help pet owners in need.
Held on Saturday, September 10, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Tamarac Park, the expo includes a Pet CPR demonstration by the American Red Cross and an array of vendors with pet food, healthcare products, and services.
“As a fur-mama to three dogs and two cats, I’m looking forward to the event,” Gomez said.
She added that CPR demonstrations take place at 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Guests will also receive a voucher for free rabies vaccination, microchipping, and spay/neuter services from Broward County Animal Care while supplies last.
“Local vendors will offer on-site pet services, pet food, and one-of-a-kind products. We’re also accepting canned pet food donations and essentials for the city’s food pantry to help local pet owners in need. I look forward to seeing you and your fur babies,” said Gomez.
Pet adoption agencies on site can help the residents find out how they can adopt a pet and explain the process.
With a DJ and many vendors, the Pet Expo promises to be a fantastic event for the whole family. All pets are welcome. Tamarac Park is located at 7501 N. University Drive.
