Dear Neighbors,
Welcome to 2023! I’m delighted to kick off another year with you and hope these next 12 months are filled with love, good health, joy, abundance, harmony, and happiness!
It was fantastic attending our holiday celebrations with you last month! Thank you for the new memories, and I look forward to many more come!
This year begins with a new commission with the recently elected District 2 Commissioner Morey Wright, Jr. and District 4 Commissioner Kicia Daniel. I wish them all the best as they join us in leading the city toward smart, sustainable growth, which we’ll be discussing soon during our Strategic Planning. We have a lot to be proud of in Tamarac, and I can assure you, no matter what, we have much to look forward to.
In Tamarac, the start of the year is also when we honor America’s Presidents and highlight the contributions of the African American community to our nation’s history. Please join me in celebrating Black History Month at this year’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day Unity March on Monday, January 16th, at City Hall, 7527 NW 88th Avenue.
Last month we celebrated the graduation of our 2022 Tamarac University Class! I had the pleasure of participating in 2009 and highly recommend it! This immersive 8-week program offers Tamarac residents a behind-the-scenes look at how our wonderful city operates. Spring enrollment for Tamarac University opens this month, so please take the opportunity to apply. For more information and to apply, visit tamarac.org/966/Tamarac-University-Application.
Food distributions continue every Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., or while supplies last, at the Korean United Methodist Church (6501 West Commercial Boulevard).
Happy 100th Birthday Doris Kleigman!
Warm regards,
Michelle
