This Valentine’s, Broward County Animal Care is once again playing matchmaker for pets and their potential owners and offering the scorn lovers a chance to “mark the occasion” with a laugh.
The shelter is hosting its annual Plenty of Pets event on Saturday, February 17, from 11 am to 5:30 p.m., featuring a matchmaking photo booth, free adoptions, and giveaways.
“Love is in the air, and we want to make sure that our pets meet their perfect match,” said Emily Wood, Director of Broward County Animal Care. “We have so many special animals, and our staff does a really good job matching people with the pets that fit their lifestyles the best.”
Adding a touch of humor to the festivities this week is the fan-favorite “Stinky Ex” promotion, running February 14-17. For a charitable donation of just $1, participants can receive a doggy poop bag they can brand with the name of their ex-partners.
“This is a lighthearted promotion that we came up with, and over time, it grew legs of its own,” Wood said. “It’s all in fun, and I hope people enjoy the practical joke and continue to donate.”
All dogs adopted during the Plenty of Pets event will receive up to $45 worth of hygiene services from Scenthound, Broward County Animal Care’s grooming partner.
Broward County Animal Care is located at 2400 SW 42 St. in Fort Lauderdale.
