Broward Animal Care Waives Dog and Cat Adoption Fees Through Sept. 30 3

Broward County Animal Care is partnering with the BISSELL Pet Foundation to waive adoption fees for eligible dogs and cats Sept. 18-30 through the national Empty the Shelters campaign.

The foundation will cover adoption fees, but adopters will remain responsible for the applicable Broward County pet registration fee.

“Every adoption changes two lives—the life of the pet going home and the life of the animal that can be helped because space has opened at the shelter,” said Doug Brightwell, director of Broward County Animal Care. “Through our partnership with BISSELL Pet Foundation, we are removing a financial barrier and making it easier for residents to welcome a deserving dog or cat into their family.”

According to Animal Care, each adoption creates space for other animals entering the shelter. Reducing the shelter population can also help lower stress and allow staff and volunteers to provide more individualized attention to the animals awaiting homes.

Potential adopters are encouraged to choose a pet that fits their household and lifestyle and consider their ability to provide lifelong care.
