The Chabad Jewish Center of Tamarac invites the community to celebrate Chanukah with a festival featuring music, food, and family-friendly activities.
“This year, we are also making a “Can-orah” – a giant menorah made of cans of non-perishable food, which will all be donated to the Goodman Jewish Family Services Food Pantry,” said Rabbi Kopel Silberberg.
Held on Sunday, December 29, at 5:30 p.m. at the Tamarac Recreation Center at 7501 North University Drive, the Chanukah Festival in the Park includes a Grand Menorah Lighting, holiday music, hot latkes and fresh donuts, and a juggling and magic show. Tamarac firefighters will perform the traditional Fire Truck Gelt Drop, and kids will enjoy a variety of Chanukah crafts.
Residents can drop the cans in the marked donation box in front of the Chabad Jewish Center of Tamarac or bring them directly to the event. All cans must be kosher, and some of the suggested items include canned soups, beans, fruits, vegetables, and tuna. The “Can-orah” build will commence at 4:30 p.m. on the day of the event.
Registration is recommended, and the first fifty people to RSVP will receive a Chanukah souvenir. The event also has multiple sponsorship opportunities to help support Chabad programs in the community.
Chabad Jewish Center of Tamarac is located at 8100 N University Dr.
