The Tamarac North Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce hosted the Bowling for Schools Tournament at Bowlero Tamarac on the evening of June 25.
The event brought together 154 bowlers on 28 teams for camaraderie and competition. It raised money for all schools in Tamarac and North Lauderdale, according to Rachel Schmidt, chair of the Chamber Board of Directors.
“People from the community got together to have some fun and raise money for schools,” said Schmidt.
A group of high school students volunteered and enjoyed helping to run the event. Elise Salas, a student at Coral Glades High School, said, “I just helped out wherever I could and had a good time,” she said.
The bowlers did their best to achieve high scores, but they also enjoyed a night out, creating a festive atmosphere. Tanya Ragbeer, a member of the PuroClean team, said, “The bowling was awesome, and we had a great time.”

Her teammate, Mayor Michelle J. Gomez, competed and enjoyed chatting with fellow bowlers between frames.“I had a good time, and the bowling was great,” she said.
Executive director Peter Mason was pleased to see people having a good time and said the event raised about $4,000.
