The City of Tamarac hosts another food distribution in partnership with Farm Share at Caporella Park.
Held on Friday, September 20, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the free food event aims to support residents in need affected by the closure of the food pantry ministry at South Florida Global Methodist Church in Tamarac.
Mayor Michelle Gomez shared in her September message to the residents that the pantry, originally shut down until August 31, will remain closed indefinitely.
The car line for the drive-thru enters from the northeast corner of Commercial Boulevard and Prospect Road. Distribution may start earlier than 10 a.m. if the traffic accumulates and the food is distributed first come, first served, while supplies last.
Residents in need can also find helpful resources through Feeding South Florida, the City of Tamarac Social Services, the 211-Broward comprehensive helpline, and the Areawide Council on Aging of Broward County. Tamarac Pet Pantry remains open to assist local pet owners with food and supplies.
Farm Share, Florida’s largest independent food bank, partners with farmers across the state and country to collect and distribute fruits and vegetables free of charge to those in need.
