If you’re looking for a new furry family member, the Humane Society of Broward County has two cute candidates: Roxy, a six-year-old cattle dog mix, and Angel, a one-and-a-half-year-old cat, both in need of loving homes.
Meet Roxy
Roxy, a 43-pound cattle dog mix, was surrendered to the shelter when her family moved and didn’t take her along. Despite the heartache of losing her home, this sweet girl is ready to share her love with a new family. At six years old, she may not be the youngest dog in the kennel, but what she lacks in age, she makes up for in affection and charm.
Recently, Roxy went on an outing with a shelter volunteer who had only glowing praise.
“Roxy is a good travel partner, loves to sniff everything, and takes in her new surroundings. She is affectionate, gives kisses, and is dog-friendly,” said the volunteer.
Though Roxy enjoys the company of other dogs, she’s not a fan of cats. She also loves playing fetch, walks well on a leash, and is fully potty trained—making her a wonderful addition to a home looking for a loyal companion.
Angel
If you prefer feline company, Angel, a beautiful one-and-a-half-year-old long-haired cat, is looking for her forever home. Angel was surrendered after her previous owner had too many cats to care for.
Though she may be shy initially, Angel will warm up in time, rewarding her adopters with lifelong friendships.
Angel enjoys exploring her surroundings and playing with toys but prefers to avoid being picked up. She enjoys gentle pets and will seek affection on her own terms.
While her temperament around dogs is unknown, she is good with other cats. Regular brushing will be necessary with her luxurious long fur to keep her looking her best.
