Ronal Soriano {BSO}
A man was arrested after allegedly attacking another man he had been drinking with inside Fiesta Food Market, following an argument about their undocumented immigration status.
According to a Broward County Sheriff’s Office report, Ronal Soriano, 25, of Tamarac, and a Honduran national, was taken into custody on June 14 following a 911 call originating from the Fiesta Food Market, located at 5425 North State Road 7.
According to the arrest affidavit, deputies were dispatched to the scene in response to a reported battery and assault. Upon arrival, they encountered the victim, visibly injured, bleeding from the nose, holding his stomach, and crying. He also had blood on his hands and appeared to be in significant pain.
Tamarac Fire Rescue responded to assess the victim’s condition and treated him on scene for a laceration on his right hand, but he declined transportation to the hospital.
At first, the victim was unable to fully explain what had happened due to his pain and emotional state. Once calmed, he informed deputies that the confrontation stemmed from a verbal exchange inside after he and Soriano had been drinking alcohol in the store.
The argument, the victim claims, was reportedly centered around the duo’s undocumented immigration statuses in the United States.
Records show the victim accompanied deputies back inside the store, where he identified Soriano as the assailant. He told deputies Soriano had punched him several times in the face, stomach, and shoulder with a closed fist. After he fell to the floor, Soriano allegedly kicked him in the stomach and threatened to kill him.
Soriano was arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail. He was later released after posting a $500 bond. There is no mention in the report of a follow-up action regarding the pair’s immigration status.
